The 38th USSR Football Championship was held from April 4 to July 17, 1976. This year it was decided to hold two one-round championships in order to conduct high-quality preparation of the USSR national team for the decisive games of the European Championships and the Olympic Games. From the higher league teams did not drop out. The winner of the tournament was Moscow "Dynamo" (eleventh and the last one in the USSR football Chempionship).
